The Gippers 99th Birthday

Today marks the 99th birthday of the man who was voted in 2001, on a poll held by one of the most liberal television networks in America, as the Greatest American of all time. He also was the driving force, and along with Pope John Paul II and Lady Margaret Thatcher, in causeing not only the downfall of the USSR but also the liberation of the many satellite nations enslaved by communism. He first took office during a situation that was arguably much tougher than what the Great Baboon inherited. Following Jimmy Carters disasterous administration the country was facing double digit inflation, unemployment, and interest rates. It took 6 years to straighten the fiasco out caused by the big toothed peanut farmer. He also reinstilled a great sense of patriotism and national pride to a country that was reeling from the disasterous conflict in Vietnam. He so inspired this writer that at the tender age of 19 I switched parties from being a Democrat to becoming a staunch Republican. He gave the military two raises in the first 8 months in office. And even though he didnt attend church regularly, probably because the world was in so much chaos when he took office, he was a Godly and spiritual man as his daily diary entrees attest. His economic policy was so sound that two successive Presidents rode the wave of economic prosperity through out their administrations. Yet he is criticized for the tax breaks he gave corporations and the upper 1% of wage earners. Amazing how when companies and the rich have more money to work with how the reinvest and create more jobs thus allowing for the collection of personal, sales, and property taxes. I could write on and on about a man that I consider one of the two hero's of my life, but will end with just simply saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY RONALD WILSON REAGAN. You are missed terribly. The good Lord broke the mold when he made men of your caliber.
